- THE IV INTERNATIONAL RECORD FAIR OF MADRID BEGINS
The fourth edition of the International Record Fair of Madrid will take place on September 21st and 22nd, at the Hotel Atocha (Rafael Hoteles, C/ Méndez Alvaro, 30). Doors will open on Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00 h. and Sunday from 11:00 to 20:00 h. Ticket price for a day is 3€.
The show will have 60 stands this year, where the people coming to the fair will be able to find all kind of music styles. Many of these booths will belong to dealers who will come expressly to the fair from different countries, such as USA, Germany, England, France and a representation of the best Spanish record stores.
All in all there will be more than 200,000 items among records, CDs, books, merchandising and music memorabilia from all eras and styles, what makes this fair a must for any music collector or fan.
The Fair will pay tribute this year to the Hottest Band in the Land " KISS " and also will include a Convention of the KISS Fan Club in Spain (KISS ARMY SPAIN) that will have a booth specialized in stuff of the band. We will have a particular exhibition with KISS items belonging to collector David Busqueta. International gathering of fans and the concert of the cover band Kiss Fever Band on Saturday at 20 h.
Besides, two items of memorabilia (IRON MAIDEN and METALLICA) will be raffled among all the people at the fair.
Juan Carlos Vilella is very satisfied for the spectacular increase of sales in this format, “The trend that we are seeing in the metropolis of the peninsula, especially among the younger customers, is the return of the vinyl, there are people who look for them and add them to their life again. According to official data, vinyl sales raised 400% compared to last year. In USA the growth of this product was 14% in the first semester of 2012, selling 3.9 million records in the same year”.
Also specialized record stores grow again, “we are noticing an increase of the sales in the last few years in the city of Madrid and others places in the country. Maybe there would be fewer record stores if it wasn’t for the revival of vinyl”.
A new generation of young people is helping to increase the demand along with people who grew up with these records and purists of sound who think that vinyl records’ sound is better than digital music”.
