What happened to this album?

Post by CarrGirl »

I have heard there is a full KISS album which has never been released.

It was supposed to come out after The Elder (so it would have included Ace and Eric C). And it was supposed to have only heavy material on it.

The name would have been Rockin' with the boys after an Ace Frehley song. And Martin Birch produced it.

The track list would have been the following:

1. One step too far
2. Bad reputation
3. Rockin' with the boys
4. Ruler of the universe
5. Shoot the president
6. The harder the better
7. Fever
8. Welcome back my boys, to metal
9. Watch your step

So what happened to this album? :ka: Does anyone know?

Yeah, there was an album in the making that was called "Rockin' With The Boys" during that period, but I don't know whether it was actually completed or not. I believe the only track that has leaked from that project is "Deadly Weapon(s)".

They were working on stuff at Ace's studio but no album was ever completed and the mention of it in the Swedish book KISS ON FIRE (that was also translated into Finnish) is the author's imagination more than anything. Most of those tracks were demos that the band were working on at the time, not an actual album. Also, I have never seen the tracklisting anywhere else which proves the author of the book was putting things about a supposed album together himself. But Gene and Paul have both mentioned that they were working on stuff and Martin Birch probably WOULD HAVE produced it, I don't think he ever did any producing on any stuff.

Just to add one thing: KISS has always denied this rumour, most recently during the Psycho Circus tour (that I know of), with much more fervor than they usually do. Whether that's because it's partially true or if it's completely false is anyone's guess.
