Even more curious to me is Gene holding the guitar version of the Axe rather than the bass.

yeah, jeff...strange, but the reason was, that there was a sweepstake from BRAVO, where someone could win a PS 10 from paul and two kramer axe guitars...one bass and one guitar version...I didn`t win...

This photo is actually a cut and paste job from two separate photos. Waring Abbott sometimes would take "creative license" and alter his photos to suit his "artistic eye". That's why you see those ridiculous white dots on Gene and Paul's eyes throughout his book. What a shame.
