I can't tell you an exact date but I know for a fact that this is an Ibanez Explorer (later re-named by Ibanez to Destroyer). The story goes that Paul gave this guitar to Ace and he began using it regularly, during their first tour of Europe. Ace said he liked the grain of the wood better than on the Gibson Explorers of the day. It should also be noted that this is NOT the same Explorer that Ace used when they filmed the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. That was a Gibson.
