...3rd place. This according to Nielsen Sound Scan results. They sold 59,718 copies their first week. In Australia it debuts at number 7. Here are the reports...

In the UK, KISS Monster debuted in the 7th position. 21st for it's second week. Hmmmm. Not a good hold. Bummer.

No entry at top 50 or top 100 for the moment here in Italy

here in Holland Monster came in @27. in the second week it jumps to 17.
(sonic boom came in @13)
But USA.... oh my god!!! Only 59.718 sold! in the first week. sonic boom had 108.000 in first week.
that to me is a real dissapointment.

^^^ Thanks for the correction on the sales totals. I have updated the start of my thread to reflect that. Yeah, that sucks. That was also my fear. It's fallout from Sonic Boom. That album benefited from time accumulated since the last album so interest was high. But like I always say, it's not where you start on Billboard that matters. It's whether your album can hold and maintain good sales afterwards that tells the story. For all the hoopla over the number 2 debut, the album ultimately tanked. And I think Monster is being pulled down by that. People are not as sold on plunking down another dollar for a new KISS record only three years after Sonic. That sucks too, because this album is very good. Well... maybe word of mouth will keep this up there. The second week on Billboard will really tell us the fate of this record. If this album drops similar to Sonic, I doubt we'll ever see another album from this incarnation. Great or not, you can't make records if no one is buying them. What is promising are the charts around the world. Those do look fairly strong, but we'll see. Encouraging too to see the album take a bounce in Holland. Lets hope that is a trend seen in the US.

Yeah just under 60,000 is kinda soft but the whole record industry itself is a shadow of what it once was a band used to tour to support an album now they record an album to support a new tour.
We'll know more about album sales in a few more weeks it may drop like a rock or it could hang in there and keep adding up.

A 3d place in USA in 2012 is a great spot or KISS imho.
The fact you get that spot with 60.000 copies sold indeed says a lot more about the state the recordbusiness is in nowadays.

In Belgium Monster entered at 68 and this week at 37, Kiss and Green Day are the only rock bands in the top 50 here.
