This will happen sooner than later, but when it does, it is the end of (since 1973). Gene will never "quit" until Paul does, and Paul is the one most likely to do it at some point.
I don't believe this rumor, though.
And as for the "brand name" of , of course that will also go on for many more years to come! Ultimately, I wouldn't put it past Gene to form a "successor" band named II or something like that, but once Paul leaves, it's over for the we know & love.
To form another "successor" band would be hidious! It would certianley destroy the history of the band. As for who would leave first, I think it would be Paul. Paul is more artistic, not only in art but musically. Gene's a salesman.

Agreed Wildwood
(But I don't see Paul going anywhere)

I don't see Paul going anywhere either... but if I had to guess who would want to "end" as a touring act, I'd bet on Paul. That's not to say the brand would still be an entity. But with a tour for 2008, Paul & Gene have no plans to go anywhere... It's in their blood.

Re: shock news Paul leaves KISS
Hey, I agree with the last few posts! Kinda sounded like y'all misunderstood me, so let me clarify:
1. Paul is not leaving now, but he'll be the "first" (between him & Gene) to go. When he does, (as we know it) ends.
2. About the "successor" band: Gene has said it himself. He does not in the slightest close the door to that possibility! And let's be honest...even though we all love , Gene really does think more highly of the band than he should. But I guess I forgot to put in my 2 cents about the idea. I agree...it's DUMB! I was just saying that I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Gene tries to make that happen, and the band actually pulls off a few shows here & there the first year. But if Gene thought this "successor" band could actually TOUR, well, I think that would not work. Having said that, what I could see happening with a band like that would be a two- or three-year show in Las Vegas. Imagine the types of pyro and effects you could have with a semi-PERMANENT stage set! Now THAT might be cool to see! But I agree that to simply throw together a tribute band to be the successors to is really dumb.
